Rocket Mah Jongg at Eleanor's Place

INTRODUCTION CLASS TO AMERICAN MAH JONGG

The 4 week session will be held at Eleanor’s Place Mondays from 5:00 – 6:45  beginning March 22nd.

Learn the American version of the fun, challenging, social tile game, Mah Jongg, in a beginner class which will cover:

• A brief history of the game
• The game equipment (racks, pushers, tiles, mat)
• Identifying the tiles (craks, bams, dots, dragons, winds, flowers and Jokers)
• How to read the card of winning hands published annually by the National Mah Jongg League
• The setup, rules and terminology of the game (including washing tiles, breaking the wall, doing the Charleston, calling a discard)
• Variations of play with 2-5 players
• Scoring and betting
• Basic strategy
• Some etiquette and bad habits to avoid
• Online resources and game platforms
• Lots of practice playing!
