The 4 week session will be held at Eleanor’s Place Mondays from 5:00 – 6:45 beginning March 22nd.
Learn the American version of the fun, challenging, social tile game, Mah Jongg, in a beginner class which will cover:
- A brief history of the game
- The game equipment (racks, pushers, tiles, mat)
- Identifying the tiles (craks, bams, dots, dragons, winds, flowers and Jokers)
- How to read the card of winning hands published annually by the National Mah Jongg League
- The setup, rules and terminology of the game (including washing tiles, breaking the wall, doing the Charleston, calling a discard)
- Variations of play with 2-5 players
- Scoring and betting
- Basic strategy
- Some etiquette and bad habits to avoid
- Online resources and game platforms
- Lots of practice playing!
